Migraine
Headaches
Migraine
headaches
can
strike
at
any
age,
and
affect
approximately
12%
of
the
population,
with
women
forming
the
majority
of
sufferers.

Symptoms
- Migraine
headaches
are
characterized
by
moderate
to
severe
throbbing
pain,
usually
on
one
side
of
the
head.
- Slight
head
movement
typically
makes
the
pain
worse.
The
pain
may
migrate
to
another
area
of
the
head
or
down
the
neck
into
the
shoulder.Cause
While
the
exact
cause
of
migraine
headache
is
not
clear,
the
following
factors
are
of
particular
interest
to
women:
- Fluctuating
estrogen
level
may
cause
what
is
known
as
menstrual
migraines,
which
are
more
debilitating
and
difficult
to
treat.
- Oral
contraceptives,
pregnancy,
estrogen-replacement
therapy
or
hormonal
treatments
for
fibroids
can
provoke
such
headaches.

Treatment
- Homeopathic
treatments
may
be
effective.
- Over
the
counter
pain
relievers,
prescription
analgesics
or
non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory
drugs
may
be
used.
